Quick facts on Ho Chi Minh City trip

One return air ticket and 3 nights hotel stay : SGD$417.80

Great shopping and exotic food : USD$200 or VND$3.4million

Photos taken during the trip : Priceless (And I mean it, especially with 870 photos = 3.49GB)

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - 4 Days 3 Nights Tour

During the first day, we were all exciting and at the same time, wondering what's outside the Ho Chi Minh airport. The taxi took us for almost an hour trip to our hotel (Dai Nam Hotel - 3 stars), and it cost us VND$500,000 which is equivalent to SGD$45. Later we then realised that we were being overcharged. Haha. We took short walks around our hotel to familarise ourselves with the area. And gosh, the traffic condition everywhere was bad. But bad in an unique way that:

1. Almost every traffic junctions and pedestrian crossings do not have traffic lights.
2. The ratio of motorcycles to saloon cars / buses / vans is about 50 is to 1.
3. Challenge of the day (everyday) is to take a deep breathe and cross the streets to pass through countless motorcycles around you.
4. Never ending honkings from the vehicles until night comes.

Second day was our trip down to the Mekong River, which is also known as the Mekong Delta to the locals. It was a one day trip with a tour guide bringing us through the river on small rocky sampans, showing us the process of making coconut candies which is their local product, having lunch and local fruits while enjoying their live traditional Vietnamese song and dance.

Third day was our free & easy day. We visited the famous Ben Thanh Market which opens from 6am to 10pm. The market is quite the same as Bangkok's Chatukchat Weekend Market, although the layout of Ben Thanh Market is more organised and the prices there are cheaper. We also visited places like the War Remanent Museum, Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral. Dinner on the last night was a challenge for some of us, but not for me. Haha. I like their food there actually, although the food can be VERY spicy at times.

We kept the last day simple, with a quick lunch at Eddy's favourite Lotteria (KFC version) and finally reach airport with a taxi fare of VND$50,000.

Food in Ho Chi Minh City is not Halal in general. You can see pork items in every menu, unless vegetarian or Halal cerified restaurants. They do not have McDonald's or Starbucks Coffee, however they have fastfood restaurants like KFC, Lotteria (KFC version), Ya Kun Kaya Bread, Gloria Jeans.

Transportation is quite well covered, with taxis, buses and trishaw-like transport everywhere but you have to take note of which type of taxi to take. DO take only Taxi Vinasun which charges passengers by meter while the rest are by negotiation, unless you know how much does your trip cost.

Public Health is generally quite well covered, with hospitals and pharmacies around. However if you think Hong Kong's air is polluted enough, please bring a face mask if you plan to visit HCMC.

One Song, Different Moments

Yesterday, I had dinner with Eddy and Albert at Fish & Co Hereens. Over dinner we chatted about the stuff back on Sunday night where Albert celebrated his birthday. We talked about everyone who went for the celebration. Everyone has his own story to tell. Some had learning points and reflections to ponder about. Some were just senseless.

During our bitching session before the food arrived, there was a point of time when one of us mentioned about his moments and who he was with when the song "Tattoo" played, then another one of us immediately related his moments and who he was with when the same song was playing. And I realised this, although it's realistic and "duh" to some people, One Song, Different Moments. It may mean that this song made me feel blue about what happened recently, and at the same time, someone else takes this song joyously as his... signature song for his current love life? AND at that same moment, probably another person may be feeling frustrated over incidents that he had experienced previously when this song played elsewhere? ALOT of feelings were being mixed at that same time I'm sure. If there are colours or aura that emits out of a person presenting a mood or a feeling, the club will definately more than just a rainbow.

Erm. I don't know why I kept thinking of this, but I'll just keep this as a record anyway. Haha.

Oh, there's new food items on Fish & Co's menu (finally). Shellfish platters with prawns, mussels, and other clam-like seafood that comes with a slice of fish, rice and fries. Not bad to share with two for a proper meal, and with three for just a light one.

What's next?

Well, I thought that I should blog something here right now.

I couldn't believe that I made my move. A move that I've decided upon and stayed firm to do it. I thank Shah and Eddy for being supportive. I thank Albert and the rest of the people for being there when things were shaky.

And so, what's next?

Updates.Quick

I woke up few minutes before my alarm clock rang this morning, again. This is the kind of sleep pattern for me these past few days. Don't know why. I was told that this could be a sleeping disorder, especially when I'm stress.

But on the other hand, it can mean well for me too. At least I get to wake up earlier than usual to go to work. Sometimes I feel not right to go to work too late anyway...

The news that I applied for a new posting was passed around like a tornado sweeping across the whole office building. Thanks to Kenzo..

Day 1 of my medication. One and a half tablet of Prednisolone every morning for the next 7 days.

I'm back from ENT

Spent $225.39 after visiting the ENT specialist. Will be going back on 8 Jan 2009 to see if my nose's condition has improved or worsen. I may be going for surgery if worsen.

Right now...

Was late for my appointment at the ENT centre and I'm still waiting for my queue number to appear on the screen as I'm keying this entry. Dont know when will be my turn.

I think the doctor may do an Endoscopic Examination on me later. Hope it's not gonna be painful. *pray*

First half

First half of the day has just passed. And it seems so slow, and at times it seems as though it is coming to a halt. No one updates their blogs as yet. Office is so quiet with most of the people going for meetings, and I actually blogging here.

Had late breakfast as usual, and saw the news on the terror attack at Mumbai with a Singaporean held as hostage. Hope he or she will be fine.

Draggy Moments

My sinus is killing me at times. Blockage especially on my left nostril is terrible. Can't breathe, and causing soreness to my cheeks as well. This problem has been with me since young. It comes, it goes. On and off. However this time round, it stayed longer than usual. Hopefully the ENT specialist can do something about it tomorrow.

Indeed, these few days are the most draggy moments of my life.

Dry spell and rainbow

Some say that during a dry spell season, there will be rainbow at times.

But will there be people who will remain to wait for the season to pass, or will they run after the rainbow?

Come to think of it, why would there be a rainbow when there is a dry spell? Is it the rainbow's appearance that caused the dry spell? Or its appearance is just coincidental?

Moving on...

Now that I have a camera.
I need a photo album.

A day of quotations

went for a light bite with Shah at LSH's wafer shop located at Hong Lim Park. Then we played this 'card game' after we were done with the food. It's called Madame Dora fortune telling cards.

So we are supposed to pose our own questions while shuffling the cards, then to pick a card out at random. I would say this deck of cards are quite accurate in relating to our questions! In fact, my two questions which had the quotes from the card reads like this "Why bother about how others think?" and "Why let other people be a boss to you when you can be the boss to yourself?". Then Shah and I was like... *mouth opened* Haha

Sent my car for repair later in the afternoon, and I was quoted for $800 plus to change the whole bumper! Gosh... But the other party agreed to pay for it.. Not too bad then. Haha

My Car!!! My Vodka!!!!

Kenzo touched down from Bangkok yesterday and he called me when he was at DFS Changi... And he managed to get a Diva-looking Absolut Vodka for me!! It's red in colour and has those small round plates being woven together like a dress...

Diva, Diva....

Undress me~

And on the other hand, my sinus problem got serious again... This time round with a swell in my left nostril, which makes my cheek sore from time to time. So I drove to a clinic after work. THEN, the nightmare came.... My car was hit by someone in the car park!!! The driver was SOO blind that he reversed into my stationary car. Luckily, he left a note with his contact number to reach him. And so I shall drive my car to the Sin Ming workshop, however I had pre-warned the culprit that if my regular workshop cannot do the job, I will send it to Cycle & Carriage to handle. And he acknowledged.

A dent on the front left bumper...

and a dent on my license plate and bumper too.

Super Trouper lights are gonna find me!

I so love this song Super Trouper by ABBA! It brings me back memories of when I was very young... Being borned into a family so much later than usuals, I vaguely remember either my sis or my aunt used to play this song. It's so melodious and I found 3 versions of the song... From ABBA themselves, Mama Mia! The Musical and Mama Mia! The Movie. Enjoy! =)

OMG.............

My laptop time states 1.22am now, and I'm sleepy. BUT, I cannot rest without posting this entry!

For the two days consecutively which was Tuesday and Wednesday, I encountered two HIMBOtic moments....

On Tuesday, I had my office lunch at Rice Table located at the International Building which was also a farewell lunch for one of our colleagues posted out to other branches. So Patrick, Shah, KT and myself rushed down to Vivo City to get some cash vouchers from Charles & Keith. As we walked into the outlet, we were about to approach the counter to ask for $80 worth of vouchers when we saw this notice that stated the vouchers only come in denotions of $20 and $50. And the HIMBOtic moment for the day came, when both Patrick and Shah commented, "Har? Then we can only get either $90 or $100, leh."

I was like... "HUH!!?" So I said, "Just get four pieces of $20, lah!" and they laughed (at themselves). So much for being a himbo.

On Wednesday, Kenzo, Shah and myself went to Bugis for a steamboat dinner-cum-supper. Almost at the end of the meal, we decided to play a game whereby we will name animals and countries from alphabet A to Z. There were alot of HIMBOtic moments from Kenzo so I shall not list them here. BUT! One of which I think was so HIMBOtic that I decided to keep it in this entry is, Kenzo thought that fox is female, wolf is male. *stunned*

That's it for tonight. I mean this morning. Good night. *yawnz*

To give or not to give?

One of my colleagues commented that Kenzo has a blog, and then asked whether I have one too. Well, I told him I do have one but there are not much entries in it. But then again, in the event if he ever asks for my blog address, should I give it to him?

Principal considerations before I should or should not let him read my blog:
i. He's straight
ii. We are not that close, just colleagues and makan-mates at times
iii. He's having problems with his family. Problems that may worsen his situation if he reads my blog, maybe?

But anyway, I've always uphold the "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy. Unless it's official or work related, then it's a different case, lah. Haha.

Don't know why I've posted this entry, just before I go to bed. Just to get this off my head, maybe. =)

The South China Sea, again.

Over-exposed of sun in this photo, but I like the blue.

A phonecall

While I am on the phone with my friend now, I'm actually inspired to keep this entry in my blog. Let's call this friend of mine, R.

R has been dating (known to many as "attached") with this guy for almost 10 months, and due to a incident made R unable to trust his boyfriend. They have been having arguements for 5 months, because of one incident including other side issues which they can't seem to resolve forever. And so I asked him, "If he is ever going to be your lifetime partner, for how long are you planning to take to forgive him? Or are you not going to forgive him at all?" Vaguely I heard a "I don't know" from him. Well, I'm sure I'm not the right person to tell him either Forgive or Forego.

Along the way, R commented that I'm the sort who forgives. I told him that I naturally forget when I can't forgive which I don't know why. That's me. So at the end of the day when people around me start to have problems trusting their partners, do they Live with it or Leave away from it?

By the time I hung up the phone after the conversation for an hour, I know for sure that even though R may feel abit better talking it out, but the problem still exists and it will not be gone in near future if nothing has been done. At least, all I can do for now is to hear his woes about his relationship.
