Merry Christmas To All~

Christmas last year was spent in Perth, Australia with my boyfriend then. Spent 5 days overseas with him and without him too. Haha.

Christmas this year was spent in Singapore. Had my count down at the airport when I just touched down from Hong Kong. And right now typing away at home on this festive day.

Christmas next year... Where will I be?

Taiyo no uta ( Midnight Sun )

16 years old girl Kaoru was a girl well-liked by her loving parents and has a very good gal friend. However she was born with an illness that makes her live her life in darkness, like a vampire that stays out of daytime, the sun is fatal for her. Her passion for singing and talent in playing guitar has touched a high school student Koji who is being faithfully watched by Kaoru everyday at the bus stop near her house.

Never did Koji knew about Kaoru's illness in the beginning when he confessed his love to her, and they enjoyed the night together throughout until sunrise. Kaoru initially had given up on the relationship however Koji's determination on helping her to produce her own singing album, she decided to be strong and live on.

Sadly to say, death is not one who can escape. Kaoru eventually left everybody and she was being missed badly. What she had left for everyone is not only in memory, but also her album which was being produced and broadcasted.

A touching movie I've watched since Dog Days.

It's My Planet For Cancer Too!

You are The Moon

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Moon is a card of magic and mystery - when prominent you know that nothing is as it seems, particularly when it concerns relationships. All logic is thrown out the window.

The Moon is all about visions and illusions, madness, genius and poetry. This is a card that has to do with sleep, and so with both dreams and nightmares. It is a scary card in that it warns that there might be hidden enemies, tricks and falsehoods. But it should also be remembered that this is a card of great creativity, of powerful magic, primal feelings and intuition. You may be going through a time of emotional and mental trial; if you have any past mental problems, you must be vigilant in taking your medication but avoid drugs or alcohol, as abuse of either will cause them irreparable damage. This time however, can also result in great creativity, psychic powers, visions and insight. You can and should trust your intuition.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

I So Luv The Month Of December!

Loving You Means...

... wanting to let you know what I have done or encountered today,
... to lend you my ear for your problems and try to solve together,
... to let you know that sacrifices, big/small, are being appreciated,
... not afraid to face difficulties with you,
... wanting to give you the best that I can offer,
... wanting to hear your voice everyday,
... to love just the way you are,
... having to feel the state of stability in the relationship,
... sharing private moments with you is never dull,
... in fact, wanting to share every moments with you,
... wanting to tell you how much I love you.

Christmas is around the corner and I had made a wish for mine, what's yours?

Law on homosexuality hinders Aids outreach to the young, says activist

To save young lives and remove the biggest stumbling blocks in Singapore's fight against HIV/Aids — stigma and discrimination — the law that criminalises homosexuality must be repealed, said president of Action for Aids Roy Chan.

At the Singapore Aids Conference on Saturday, he called for a change to Article 377A of the Penal Code, a law that makes acts of "gross indecency" between men illegal.

"This legal barrier has made it impossible to target MSM (men having sex with men), and made us unable to address it within schools … It is the main reason for stigma and pushes (the problem) into the closet. It is not surprising that more young gay men are getting infected," said Dr Chan.

At least three teenagers tested positive for HIV between 2003 and 2005 are gay, and there are concerns that more could be at risk.

"If young people are getting infected, it's because they haven't been included in education programmes that are relevant to them," said Dr Chan.

While he lauded various efforts to target schools and youth with the Aids message, he noted that none of these deal with homosexual youth.

"It is a criminal offence so you can't talk about it."

He added: "So, you have the young boys who are coming of age and some are having unprotected sex. Who's going to teach them or access them?"

Like any outreach programme, the one for gay youth has to be in touch with their lives and allow for discussion.

Simply saying, "it's illegal, don't do it, full stop" does not solve the problem but rather worsens it, Dr Chan added.

In response, Senior Minister Dr Balaji Sadasivan, who heads the new inter-agency committee to fight the spread of HIV/Aids, said that "these are issues that the committee must confront to control the epidemic".

When proposed amendments to the Penal Code were announced last month, the Ministry of Home Affairs explained that Article 377A would remain unchanged because "Singapore remains, by and large, a conservative society" and "many do not tolerate homosexuality".

Also at Saturday's conference, Dr Balaji reported that the total number of new HIV/Aids cases here this year could hit a record high of 340.

He announced that the Health Ministry would study having routine voluntary HIV screening at clinics and hospitals, to help with early diagnosis and more effective control of Aids.

Super Sundays in December

Yey~ Finally ended my colleague's event yesterday. Endless sleep throughout the weekend with thumping headaches, leaving me with no choice but to rest when the event started. *Sigh*

@ttica was quite fun last night. Yeah. Especially with no sleep for two days, with an empty stomach and I'm driving, I didn't drink much. Only two sips in fact. Vodka Orange aka Screwdriver. My favourite. Heh. I wonder if Super Sunday at @ttica is always so packed. People squeezing everywhere, only to dance with strangers back to back. Or maybe front to back too. Muahaha~ =X

OMG! I was waken up by my colleague's phone call this morning, asking me "Hey where are you?" I just replied him that I'm reaching office soon as matter of fact that I'm still in bed? I was like... "W.T.H. was I talking about?" Yeah, I'm supposed to go for IPPT this morning but I overslept! Gosh. Lucky for me, there's one more date. *Phew*

Super Sunday 1 : 3 Dec - Super Sunday @ @ttica
Super Sunday 2 : 10 Dec - Handbag Party @ Taboo (from Saturday)
Super Sunday 3 : 17 Dec - Ops Hong Kong activation
Super Sunday 4 : 24 Dec - Ops Hong Kong stand down (Merry Xmas @ Changi Airport?!)
Super Sunday 5 : 31 Dec - Happy New Year @ ???

"Hey, how much are you packing the ang pow for XXX's wedding?"
"Is x dollars enough huh?
"One table at that XXX Hotel how much huh?"
"The dinner is at this XXX Restaurant right?"

A simple dinner to celebrate the joyous occasion for the wedded couple, a time for everyone to gather and catch up with each other. A simple token of blessing in the monetary form has evolved into a form of payment to match up with the type of wedding scene you are in. The classier the hotel ballroom, the more you are obliged to give. The more expensive each table costs, the more you are obliged to give. A dinner held in a restaurant can give lesser than a dinner held in a hotel ballroom. Blessings, folks... It's the blessings that you are giving to the couple, not paying for what you eat. Haha.

She's Such A Biatch and So Am I

(My mobile phone rings)
Biatch : Hell can I speak to Melvin?

Me : yes?

Biatch : I'm calling from don't-know-what-she-was-mumbling and you are selected for our free makeover at our studio.

Me : So how was I being selected?

Biatch : (silent for 3secs) Your name is being picked up by the lucky draws in shopping centres and supermarkets. (I suspect that she's digging for her common script to read out)

Me : I'm sorry but I don't think I'm keen in...

Biatch : (hangs up the phone)

Me : ...................................

(HER office phone rings)
Biatch : Hello don't-know-what-she-was-mumbling

Me : Hey I think you need to hear this.

Biatch : har...?

Me : (hang up the phone before she ends her "har")

Before Computers...

An application was for employment
A program was a TV show
A cursor used profanity
A keyboard was a piano!

Memory was something that you lost with age
A CD was a bank account
And a floppy disk was something
Terribly wrong in your back.

Compress was something you did to garbage
Not something you did to a file
And if you unzipped anything in public
You'd be in jail for awhile!

Log on was adding wood to a fire
Hard drive was a long trip on the road
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived
And a backup happened to your commode!

Cut - you did with a pocket knife
Paste you did with glue
A web was a spider's home
And a virus was the flu!

I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper
And the memory in my head
I hear nobody's been killed in a computer crash
But when it happens they wish they were dead!

Triple Hit Combo!

No! These are not Chinese New Year greeting cards! Wedding dinner to attend for December!

The Search Is On

When everyone is not in the office right now, I can finally do some blogging although I do that even when there are people around. At least they know what is PRIVACY. lolx

Sometimes I wonder if it is purely coincidence or it is in such situation now, that the friends around me are being single more than staying attached. So what are the possible scenarios that I can think of? Hmmm..

Scenario 1 - Thou shall not place Love above everything
There are such people who have higher priorities for other stuff than finding their right ones, their life partner. They find that having to do more meaningful work rather than to devote their time to lay a bed of roses. These type of people are those who you can rarely sense even a weak signal of interest for you.

Scenario 2 - Let's play!
Simply just like to have fun. Casual fun. Casual companionship and fun but not into relationship or commitments. They do not like to be tied down with a single partner, the term "Long Term Relationship" is something which you can forget about telling them. All work no play makes them dull.

Scenario 3 - Hmm.. Nah... Next please~
Having too high an expectation could lead to a time consuming but satisfying series of actions. You wish to have someone who lives up to your standard, however are you able to live up to your partner's if he or she is the same as you? Well, probably expectations achieved but a short relationship afterall.

Scenario 4 - Nobody likes me anyway =(
Pessimistic by nature. Either being rejected numerous times or having the phobia to step forward and confess. The act to initiate will come once in a few thousand years. Maybe hidden talents will continue to hide as dragons, hideous characters will continue to crouch like tigers. Bah.. Rubbish right?

Scenario 5 - *Yawnz* What? Love?
Infected by a virus named Laziness. Nothing much to comment. Plain lazy. * Yawnz*

Scenario 6 - I need Lady Luck to knock my door!
Apparently Lady Luck might have been kidnapped by hardcore lovefinders so you won't get a chance that easy to find her. I think finding Santa Clause is much easier for now since Christmas is around the corner. Try making use of other factors other than luck to find your partner?

Like milk I wanna spoil you if I have a chance,
However it turns out that the feeling is getting sour,
When the waiting appraoches the expiry date on the carton.

oh oh~ a sudden though of something now. Why doesn't the mouth stinks even when the stinking human waste is inside the body? lolx

Before, During & After Event

Nah... I'm not gonna talk about my weight before and after the event here. My weight has in fact not affected by the long hours inside office, running about at the event venue, attending endless meetings or cracking my brains to compliment measures that will cause inconvenience, etc.

I guessed that the complication arises whenever I lie down on my bed before I sleep, I would think what to follow up tomorrow, is there anything that I missed out during today's meeting, blah blah blah... A minimum of half an hour of staying awake before snoring. Then comes the next day when I will be drained out by noon time. Well at least I'm glad that my colleagues are there to assist me. *yawnz* I got to relax on Saturday at Taboo and Jalan Raya on Sunday! *grinz*

When the BIG DAY came after weeks of planning, long hours inside office and yeah, please see the rest mentioned above, everything started to kick in and the event ran by itself. Surprisingly I did not run about too much and worrying about all the things in the world, and I did not have a headache! Very often then not I will tend to eat and drink lesser than normal days, resulting me having a headache, tired back and dehydrated body. This time round, everything seemed fine. *Pray*

Right after the event, I hit straight home and rest. Well, I sort of failed to keep a promise to someone that I will wait for him to come back online however I was sooo tired that I could wait no more. Felt kinda bad that I did not wait long enough. Anyway he reached home later than I expected. Safe and sound at least. =.="

Yey~ Hong Kong in one month's time! lolx

Taken from A's bloggie.. Heh..

To find your love attitude number, add your birth month and your birth date together. Keep reducing it until it's a single digit.

Example: August 20
= 8 + 20 = 28
= 2 + 8 = 10
= 1 + 0 = 1
Thus, the love attitude number is = 1

1
You're charming imaginative and independent. Usually your style is ahead of others, you know what's in and what's way out. Sometimes you're a little too aggressive when it comes to pursuing a love interest. You've a way of drawing attention wherever you go and this dramatic lare usually attracts the strongest guys. Your competitive nature either draws or repels guys/gals but those who can't handle your power aren't your type anyway. At times you can b! e possessive, manipulating and demanding with your friends and in love relationships. You like guys/gals with lots of intelligence and knock them dead good looks don't hurt either.

2
Your love nature is sentimental, romantic and kind. Your easygoing, mild manner allows almost everyone to feel very comfortable with you - especially shy guys/gals. Your modesty and tact enable you to get alongeasily with both sexes. You're a natural peacemaker and can be very persuasive with words, which helps you to gain the respect of your classmates. You can also be too sensitive at times, and your greatest drawback is a lack of confidence to stand up for yourself in conflict. Your favorite type of guy/gal is a gentle, affectionate one who is also strong and playful. A great sense of humor is also a must. A guy/gal who loves to listen to music and dance should rank high on your list of favorites, too.

3
You're imaginative, fun-loving, trill-seeking and expressive. You're so charming that you attract many friends and you're almost never lacking guys/gals. In your earlier years, you maybe totally shy and self-conscious, but you'll lose those qualities in the high-school years. You can be sort of vain or even a bit of a show-off when you get caught up in exciting events in your life, but you usually redeem yourself in some playful way before you lose a friend. Jealousy shows its ugly head sometimes, but generally you aren't affected by it unless your guy tries to provoke it. In the guy department, you refer the athletic or artistic types. You're in absolute heaven when you find both of those qualities in the same guy. When you're looking for love, a guy who can make you laugh scores points, big time!

4
You tend to be loyal, dedicated and good-hearted. You're one of the most diligent students when you really try, and you tend to make your schoolwork a priority. You also express those same qualities in your love relationship. No one is more faithful and trusting than you. In fact, those tendencies can be a little negative in your romantic life. It give you the respect and love you deserve. You can be stubborn and abit of a troublemaker if the mood strikes you but you can usually dig yourself out of that hole just in time to stay out of major trouble. You usually fall for extremes when choosing a love mate - he/she is good-looking, too, but that's not a major consideration for you.

5
Your love attitude is adventurous, charismatic and spontaneous. You're creative and adaptable, and you can come up with the most exciting and sometimes daring things to do. Your quick intelligence and way with words help get you out of the problems that come with being flirtatious and laying hard to get. You need to pay close attention to your personal values because you love to try new and different things and easily go along with the crowd and the consequences can put extra strain on your relationship with a boy/girl. You like guys who have great bodies and good looks, along with exceptional brain and high grades. It helps if they're highly athletic or involved in as many activities as you, otherwise you might get bored! Variety is the key to your love attitude number.

6
You're warm, loving, devoted and affectionate. Your outgoing, thoughtful nature attracts many boyfriends/girlfriends to you, and usually some of the nicest guys too. Because of your need to care, you can end up in a relationship that requires too much care-taking to make it balanced. Since home and family play important roles in your life, you're unlikely to be attracted to guys/gals who your parents wouldn't like. Sometimes you've a slight jealous streak but it doesn't last long. Some people with this love attitude number are prone to making ha! rsh judgments of others, especially when others don't share your set of values. You're especially attracted to the good looking, boy-next-door type who is smart as well as a gentleman.

7
Your love nature is thoughtful, poetic, mystical and mysterious. A few people with love attitude number seven are class clowns, and they usually attract guys/gals who like to be given a hard time. But most of you are the quiet, reserved types who dislike calling attention to yourself. Your type generally attracts guys who feel the same way you do. Your defined, independent and secretive nature is very alluring to certain guys/gays. At times, you can also be somewhat fault-finding and a little demanding in your love relationship and with friends. You're mostly attracted to guys/gals who aren't like all the rest; a loner easily attracts you. And, if he/she reads alot and enjoy learning, he/she is especially perfect for you.

8
Your love attitude is confident, powerful and exciting. This number usually makes for a very conscientious student, someone who puts schoolwork ahead of a social life. However, you also enjoy being a leader among your classmates and will seek offices or other positions that enable you to use your leadership skills. Because of this, you can be somewhat intimidating to certain guys/gals. You can also be a little too intense, bossy and jealous for your own good. Your love match is definitely someone who is smart, handsome/pretty and popular. You like quality over quantity and will usually wait until the guy/gal with the best attributes comes along.

9
You've a sophisticated attitude that's also generous and considerate. Your responsible, charitable nature may find you attracting guys/gals who want someone to confide in or who makes them feel secure. At a very young age, you developed the type of personality that makes others feel safe and protected. You'll carry these qualities into your adult years and, down the road, you'll be a good mom/dad because of them. On the negative side, you can be argumentative and overly emotional, and you usually possess a temper that can make everyone run for cover. You like the kind of guy/gal who is responsible and impeccably dressed and has gorgeous eyes and a great body. Charm, with and brilliance could make him the perfect guy/gal for you.

Flushed Away Saturday and Feasty Sunday

Watched Flushed Away at Cineleisure with A on Saturday. It was kinda like a make up for the "aeroplane" that he flown me last week. Well, he's forgiven since he's at home rushing for his project. Dreamworks Animations has not failed me again! This animation is funny! Especially the slugs who appear almost everywhere throughout the show, making sound effects and songs, etc. I'm glad that the movies I watched this week is worth my money at least, although spending on movies at cinemas don't really bother me actually. Haha~

Sent A home and headed down Maxwell to meet Eddy and gang for light supper. Well, ate nothing and just a drink actually. Chatted until super tired and sianz and we decided to head home. Bumped onto Philip and gang who were suppering there too. Played game till 5am~

Woke up at 1pm to drive mama and sis to buddhist monastery near Hougang/Punggol boundary. Nice place and it's near to visit at least once a month. After praying, mama and sis can't decide where to go. Vivo City, nursery, Vivo City, nursery, Vivo City, nursery, Vivo City, nursery, Vivo City, nursery, Vivo City, nursery... We ended up at Xin Wang HK Cafe @ Kovan having light snacks.

Popped down to Great World City to meet up with my colleagues for dinner after sending mama and sis home. Today is one of my colleague's son's full month party. Eh.. Not Full MOON Party ok~ Haha. But then since today is the 15th lunar month, it CAN be considered a Full Moon Party too. Heh. Anyway, the dinner was great! Cantonese cuisine with nice waiters and waitresses. *Yawn*

Opening of 1st session of 11th Parliament

Helped out with my colleague at Parliament House today. And it was super boring! Should have asked my boss to let me go back office do something worthwhile, but then he might need me to assist him if there was a need. Late lunch and late dinner for me again, terribly, but the event ended smoothly though.

Luckily A was entertaining me for awhile with his don't-know-from-where personality test, and it concluded me as the following:

1. I fall in love easily.
2. I give more than I receive
3. If I have any problems, I will not talk to my bf directly. Instead, I will use a different way to let my message to be delivered.
4. I love the way my bf is.
5. I fall out of love fast.

And it is SO SO SO not true for the last answer!!!

Helpless mum starves to death

27 October 2006

FOR days, the old woman watched her only caregiver and daughter's corpse rot in front of her. Madam Teoh Guat Hoe, 84 was reportedly so frail that she was not even able to shout for help from her neighbours. Her daughter, Ms Stella Ooi, 57, is believed to have died after falling from a chair, reported Guang Ming Daily.

Without her daughter to give her food and water, Madam Teoh eventually died of starvation.
Their rotting bodies were found on Tuesday afternoon, after neighbours complained of a stench from their two-storey terrace house in Ipoh. They are said to have died seven to 10 days earlier. A neighbour, Madam Zhong Yamei, said she had at first thought that the smell was from a rotting cat or dog. But when she peeked into the house and saw Madam Teoh lying unresponsively on her bed, she called the police.

BODIES IN SAME ROOM

The police found Ms Ooi's highly-decomposed body lying face-down in the living room.
Her emaciated mother, who was in adult diapers, was lying dead on her bed facing Ms Ooi's body. Madam Teoh's right eye was also decomposing by that time. Police are ruling out a possible break-in, as the bodies showed no signs of struggle and there were no signs of robbery.

According to Madam Zhong, 70, Madam Teoh has been bedridden for almost six years, after a fall at home. Madam Teoh was unable to speak and relied heavily on her daughter to take care of her. The pair kept to themselves and rarely spoke to neighbours, she said.
Madam Zhong also said that Madam Teoh has four other children, including a son who used to visit them often. Madam Teoh is suspected to have starved to death, but the cause of Ms Ooi's death could not be ascertained because her body was too decomposed.

Although this is a 3-day old story, reading it the second time still makes me feel so sad for them.

Destination Finale. Biennale at Tanglin Camp.

Finally completed our Singapore Biennale 2006 trip with the places that we wanted to visit. Today's places that we visited are Singapore Arts Museum and Tanglin Camp. As the exhibits inside Singapore Arts Museum are not allowed to be photographed, I decided not to take any of them. And worst of all, I can't find the signboard that states "Singapore Biennale 2006: Singapore Arts Museum"!! Darn! And so, we made a quick visit around the museum and headed down to Tanglin Camp. For those who do not know where is that, it's actually quite near to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A couple of people drove to Tanglin Camp I can see. Cars parked down the slope just below the camp with adults as well as kids. Seems that Singapore Biennale 2006 attracted alot of people of all ages and it proved that it suits almost everybody. The exhibits are displayed everywhere within the camp, with different blocks holding a handful of interesting exhibits for our eyes and ears. Hmm.. For further details, please see illustrations for some of the exhibits. Hehe~

Kev says these SIA gals sprouting H²O on behalf of Merlion.. =.="

After the visit to Tanglin Camp, we drove down to Orchard Takashimaya for dinner. Some Japanese restaurant that costs us $80+ just for two persons. Food and dessert not bad but then the price is still not worth it.

Eyes super tired today with all those fascinating exhibits at Singapore Arts Museum and Tanglin Camp. Well, that rounded up my visit to the Singapore Biennale 2006 this year, from National Museum to City Hall to Arts Museum and eventually at Tanglin Camp. I would definately hope that Singapore will hold more of such events. =)
